Atam-Deep Trust, India

Atam Deep is a family foundation of the Aurora family. Prof. Gurdip Aurora has vast experience and interest in organic farming and in particular with the permacultural methods of Bill Morrison. It has become possible now to create a model farm on a small (1/4 acre) piece of land in the village of Eraguntapalya, only about 1 km from the SRADHA training centre, that has been leased by a local farmer. The idea is to demonstrate that even from a small plot of land intelligent management of the resources can achieve self-sufficiency in food. Important aspects of Gurdip’s methodology are the integration of animal husbandry and silviculture (trees) and using water tanks to grow azola, spirulina and mushrooms, demonstrating permaculture design concepts, growing health plants, and in collaboration with SRADHA, conducting training programmes for local farmers on sustainable agriculture and on health and nutrition.

Prof. Aurora has made a project proposal for one year for the model farm which should be self-sustaining in 3 years.
