Tierraviva is a project which works in Buenos Aires and several other provinces in Argentina to improve the conditions for mothers incarcerated with children under 4. Tierraviva also advocates for the rights of inmates at prison, regional and national level, using dance, drama and other techniques to improve mother-child relationships and encourage a transformative process among the inmates.

Due to the change in Indonesian microcredit law YUM has been forced to halt its microcredit project in Kalimantan. Considerable work has now gone into the redesign and improvement of the microcredit project.

World Congress SDIA Program

During the 13th Subud World Congress in Christ Church New Zealand (January 4-18, 2010), SDIA is coordinating a program of meetings, seminars and workshops related to development issues and strengthening our association. This is an opportunity for members of the Susila Dharma Network to share their learning and to acquire new skills. We specially welcome the participation of members from India, Indonesia, Latin America and DR Congo.

The SDIA Annual General Meeting will be held on January 9.

El Refugio Corporation is financed through jewellery-making courses carried out in the CACMA centre in Bogotá, Colombia. The trainers’ salaries, teaching and technical material, and administration costs (transport, paperwork, accounting etc.) is financed through the sale of jewellery from the “YouthSmiths” (Jóvenes Orfebres) project. This request is to help finance a permanent sales outlet.

2009.07 - Clear Path International Request: Peng Lo and Pang Ma Pha Prosthetics Fabrication Workshops

Both the Peng Lo and the Pang Ma Pha Prosthetic Fabrication Workshops, located near Shan refugee and internally displaced persons camps at the Thai/Burma border, provide prostheses for Burmese refugees. Victims of landmines placed by Burmese army or ethnic rebel factions, these amputees are desperate to quickly obtain their prosthetics and return home to provide protection and economic support for their families. Financial support for these workshops will provide approximately 300 prosthetics each year to Burmese landmine survivors.

The Thai/Burma border region is a conflict zone exempt from the benefits of the Mine Ban Treaty. Rangoon does not support the Treaty and the ethnic rebel factions continue to use mines to protect their villages. Cases of landmine accidents in Burma have skyrocketed. The Loi Kaw Prosthetics Fabrication Workshop, located in Burma itself, supplies Prostheses to Burmese and Thai landmine victims.
